Responsible Disposal

Island‑safe, closed‑loop handling for used oils, coolants, ATF, gear oils, and greases. Let’s protect our waterways and keep value in the local economy.

For drivers & DIYers

Collect

  • Drain into a clean, sealable container with a tight cap.
  • Label it “Used Oil” and store upright on a tray or in a tub.
  • Do not mix with coolant, brake cleaner, gasoline, or other fluids.

Drop off

  • Take to a local recycling site, service shop, or municipal facility.
  • Bring your used oil filter too—drain it and recycle if accepted.
  • We’ll help you locate the nearest site—use the button above.

Do not

  • Pour on the ground, into drains, or into household trash.
  • Burn used oil or discharge it to water or soil.
  • Mix different fluids together; it may prevent recycling.

For repair shops & fleets

Storage

  • Use intact, compatible containers or tanks; keep closed when not in use.
  • Label all containers clearly as “Used Oil”.
  • Keep spill kits on hand; clean up promptly.

Collection

  • Schedule pickups with a licensed oil recycler/hauler.
  • Keep used oil uncontaminated to preserve recyclability.
  • Retain receipts/manifests per local requirements.

Close the loop

  • Ask about re‑refined base oils and circular options.
  • Consolidate packaging (drums/totes) for return or recycling where available.
  • We can help arrange local partners and pickups.

Marine & island operations

On the water

  • Never discharge any oil or oily water to the sea.
  • Use bilge absorbent pads/booms; don’t use detergents that spread sheen.
  • Collect used oil and filters at the dock for proper recycling.

At the marina

  • Provide/locate used‑oil collection points for boaters.
  • Keep containers covered and protected from rain and spray.
  • Coordinate periodic pickups with licensed recyclers.

Spill readiness

  • Stage spill kits where fluids are handled.
  • Train staff on basic spill response and reporting requirements.
  • Keep emergency contacts posted and visible.

Other fluids

Coolant/Antifreeze

  • Store separately from oil (do not mix).
  • Many recyclers accept coolant; rules vary—ask us for a local option.

ATF, gear oil & grease

  • Most used‑oil programs also take ATF and gear oils—confirm locally.
  • Grease: collect scrapings/absorbents for proper disposal per local rules.

Absorbents & rags

  • Use dedicated oil‑only absorbents.
  • Dispose or launder through approved services; don’t toss saturated rags in open bins.

Local laws differ by island and municipality. When in doubt, contact us—we’ll coordinate with local authorities and recycling firms.
